A good education is life-changing and is a pillar of Just One Opportunity. We provide training for teachers at our training center in Sebaco, Nicaragua. Many teachers we work with have a high school education and benefit significantly from us equipping them with the tools to teach their students effectively. Teacher training mainly focuses on classroom management, student assessment, collaboration, creative thinking, parental and community engagement, and social literacy.
One example of reaching students with a practical application of Christ's love means that we ensure every child who wants to attend school in the villages we reach will have a uniform, which is mandatory in Nicaragua. We also provide basic school supplies for the classrooms and work with teachers to enhance the curriculum.
In addition to training teachers, Just One Opportunity ensures students receive a high school education after completing primary school and one day attend a vocational school or college. High school and college students have to walk at least 45 minutes and then take a truck to the main road, where they are then able to take a bus to school. The organization provides 27 high school students with transportation costs, school supplies, and uniforms and 35 college students with transportation and other expenses. Students will also receive computer training and English lessons.
